LAVANID® Wound Gel and Wound Gel V+ are sterile hydrogels based on Ringer’s solution with 0.04% polyhexanide as preservative. With a water content of approximately 90%, they maintain a moist wound environment and support autolytic debridement.
Sterile hydrogel; available in 15 / 40 / 100 g tubes and 10 g syringes.
First, clean the wound with LAVANID® Wound Irrigation Solution. Apply the gel directly to the wound or wound dressing, or use a sterile spatula, then cover the wound with a dressing. The gel remains on the wound until the next dressing change; any residue can be rinsed off with LAVANID® Wound Irrigation Solution.
Use within 1 month of first opening.
Thanks to their high water content, both hydrogels keep the wound bed moist and support the loosening of wound coatings by the body’s own enzymes. Polyhexanide prevents the growth of microorganisms in the gel and in wound dressings.
The high water content keeps the wound bed moist and supports autolytic debridement.
Prevents the growth of microorganisms in the gel and in wound dressings, helping to prevent biofilm formation.
A clinical study on soft tissue wounds showed the gel was well tolerated, with no local irritation or pain to be expected.
Wound Gel spreads easily into cavities and pockets, while Wound Gel V+ adheres better to the wound.
