Efferon® NEO is designed for the selective adsorption of lipopolysaccharides and the non-selective adsorption of cytokines, myoglobin, cellular debris, and endogenous/exogenous toxic substances. It is the first multimodal hemoadsorption device approved for use in neonatal and pediatric patients with sepsis and septic shock, for children under 18 years of age.
Sterile, non-pyrogenic, gamma-sterilized single-use device; usable in direct hemoperfusion mode or combined with RRT, ECMO and CPB.
The device is intended for extracorporeal blood purification via hemoperfusion in pediatric patients. It can be used in direct hemoperfusion mode on its own or in combination with RRT, ECMO and CPB. Inflammatory mediators and endotoxin are removed from the patient's circulation.
Efferon® NEO supports the treatment of pediatric sepsis patients by removing endotoxins and inflammatory mediators from circulation, reducing the risk of multi-organ failure.
Efferon® NEO's multimodal adsorbent selectively binds two dissimilar therapeutic targets: bacterial endotoxins (PAMP molecules) via a surface-immobilized selective ligand, and excessive cytokines (DAMP molecules) through the intrinsic porosity of the polymeric scaffold.
The surface-immobilized selective ligand enables permanent binding of bacterial endotoxins (PAMP molecules).
The intrinsic porosity of the polymeric scaffold binds excessive cytokines (DAMP molecules).
The small internal volume and low blood-filling volume are optimized for safe extracorporeal use in pediatric patients.
The column's symmetrical construction, multimodal adsorbent, and reduced fill volume work together to ensure stable blood flow and effective mediator removal in pediatric patients.
